Samsung SDS Successful Finished ‘Japan Electronic Gevernment’
Since Samsung SDS successfully finished the construction of an Electronic Government System in Japan, exports of Korean developed Electronic Government System are expected to increase.
According to IT industry ring, last 20th, Samsung SDS announced its plan to open Municipal Administration Information System of Sa-Ga City launched in late 2003 after the completion of the project in February.
After this first phase of the project, Samsung SDS is also planning to win the second phase aiming at integrating the Administration Information System of three distinct cities neighboring Sa-Ga City and finish it around this September. This is the first occasion that Korean company built an Electronic Government System overseas.
Assortment of Civil Appeal System of Gangnam-Gu Office, consists of 15 independent Electronic Information System including Electronic Bidding System, Electronic Payment System and Electronic Document Issuance System, acted as a model for the Sa-Ga City’s new System. Thanks to the completion, Sa-Ga-Shi begins to issue various civil petition documents on-line system from this month on.
The project was the first incident that a foreign IT firm constructed an Information System for Japanese public office as well as the first Electronic Government System project finished in Japan. SDS is expecting to win significantly increased number of Electronic Government System contracts in developed countries as it successfully finished the project. SDS is now contacting with 3 to 4 more local autonomous entities in Japan to win additional EGS project.
A manager in SDS says, “we believe many local autonomous entities in Japan will commence numerous Electronic Government System projects since the first phase of Sa-Ga-Shi project, which was also the first export of home-grown Electronic Government System, was successfully done.”
